Do you know anything about laser cleaning?

2024-05-13

Laser cleaning technology is a cleaning solution that uses high-frequency short pulse laser as the working medium. High energy beams of specific wavelengths are absorbed by layers of rust, paint, and contamination, forming a rapidly expanding plasma, while creating a shock wave that turns the pollutants into fragments and is removed. The substrate also does not absorb energy, does not damage the surface of the object being cleaned, and does not reduce its surface finish.

Compared with ordinary chemical cleaning and mechanical cleaning, laser cleaning has the following characteristics:

1. It is a complete "dry cleaning process, does not need to use cleaning liquid or other chemical solutions, is a" green "cleaning process, and the cleanliness is much higher than the chemical cleaning process;

2. A wide range of objects can be cleaned. From large lumps of dirt (such as handprints, rust, oil, paint) to small fine particles (such as metal ultrafine particles, dust) can be cleaned by this method;

3. Laser cleaning is suitable for almost all solid substrates, and in many cases can only remove dirt without damaging the substrate;

4. Laser cleaning can be easily automated operation, but also can use optical fiber to introduce the laser into the contaminated area, the operator only needs to remote control operation, very safe and convenient, which is of great significance for some special applications, such as nuclear reactor condensate pipe rust removal.

The type, power and wavelength of the laser used for laser cleaning should be different depending on the composition and shape of the material that needs to be cleaned, and the current typical equipment is mainly YAG lasers and excimer lasers. It is worth mentioning that the laser rust removal process is used on the surface of steel, and by selecting the appropriate process parameters, the substrate surface can be slightly melted at the same time of rust removal, and the cambium has a uniform and dense corrosion resistant layer, so that rust removal and corrosion prevention are in place in one step. Laser cleaning technology has been preliminarily applied in industry.
